Minecraft: Hoe Enchantment Guide
If you are needing to do some crop farming on Minecraft, learning about the Hoe Enchantments will surely be beneficial. Hoes are used to till dirt/grass blocks & harvest crops. Enchantments help give certain items enhancements, in this case we can indeed use Enchantments on the Hoe Tool.
Hoes are not meant to be used as Weapons but can be used in desperate times. Since Hoes have very little Attack Damage, it is better to just use them for farming. In this Enchantment Guide, we are going to give you tips on Enchantments that solely help the tilling and harvesting uses of a Hoe.
Before Adding Enchantments onto a Hoe, you’ll want to use a Good Quality Hoe. The Netherite Hoe works best, but you can use whatever type of Hoe you want while farming.
All Enchantments that can be Used on a Minecraft Hoe
Before diving deeper into each Enchantment, it is good to know all the options you have. Different items will be allowed to use different Enchantments. The Enchantment options for a Hoe are…
- Efficiency V
- Fortune III
- Unbreaking III
- Silk Touch I
- Mending I
Some of these Enchantments can be stacked onto your Hoe.
What are the Best Enchantments to put on a Minecraft Hoe?
First, I would recommend using Fortune III on your Hoe. If you do not have Fortune III, Fortune II & Fortune I works as well. This Fortune Enhancement will help you when you harvest crops. When harvesting, you will get more seeds back because of the Fortune Boost.
You can use an Anvil to place a Fortune Book on your Hoe Tool. It will cost 6 Experience Levels to add Fortune III.
Second, you can stack Unbreaking III to your Fortune Hoe. The Unbreaking III Enchantment can be substituted for Unbreaking II or Unbreaking I if needed. This Unbreaking Enhancement will help increase the durability of your Hoe. Any use of the Hoe benefits from this Enchantment whether it’s tilling farmland or harvesting.
Once again, you will use an Anvil to place your Unbreaking Book onto your Hoe Tool. It will cost 4 Experience levels for Unbreaking III.
If you are farming crops that give a lot of experience (this is an unusual occurrence), it could be better to add Mending I instead of Unbreaking III. Mending I and Unbreaking III cannot be stacked together so once you add one Enchantment the other will be removed. In most cases I would still suggest to rather use Unbreaking III.
If you haven’t got the pattern already, yes an Anvil is required to add the Mending Book onto the Hoe.
When farming crops in bulk, adding the Efficiency Enchantment can really help. Efficiency V is the highest level of this Enchantment. Conveniently, Efficiency can stack with Fortune & Unbreaking/Mending. The Enchantment cost of Efficiency V is 8 Experience levels when added onto the Fortune III and Unbreaking III Hoe.
Presenting (one of) the best Enchanted Minecraft Hoe Tool…
Fortune III, Unbreaking III, & Efficiency V
Total Cost: 18 Experience Levels. The amount of Experience Levels needed varies depending on the order you’ve placed your Enchantments. In this case it’s Fortune III, Unbreaking III, and then Efficiency V.
Now, all that hasn’t been covered is the Silk Touch Enchantment on the Hoe. Silk Touch will stack with everything but Fortune. Basically, it is always better to add Fortune except in rare cases. Generally I would not think about adding Silk Touch I to your Hoe.
